Jim White

 

 Jimmy “Jim” J. White, 76, of Prairie du Chien passed away at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. 

Jimmy was born on Jan. 22, 1938, in Boscobel, the son of Virgil and Dorothy (Derby) White. He married JoAnne Cech on June 6, 1959 in Prairie du Chien.

Jim was well known for his love of horses and was a founding member of the Prairie du Chien Children’s Ranch and the Rotary Club of Prairie du Chien. He was also a member of the Wisconsin National Guard, St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Prairie du Chien school board and as an EMT for the Prairie du Chien Rescue Squad.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAnne; his children, Jay White of Prairie du Chien and Janan (Frank) Pisano of Calif., his brothers, Jack White of  New Mexico, Jay White of Alaska; his grandchildren, Grace, Noah, and  Asa White, Ronnie and Joanna Pisano along with several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janice Check; an infant son Jeff; and adult son Jamie. 

Funeral services will be Friday, March 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rev. Joe Irvin officiating, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Military Honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. Friends may call on Thursday, March 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien and at the church Friday, March 14, from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prairie du Chien Children’s Ranch, Rotary Club of Prairie du Chien or the St. Peter Lutheran Church.
