Bulldog wrestlers have good season

The top story for the 2013-2014 MFL MarMac Bulldog wrestling team was senior Nathan Howe and his sixth place finish at state at 182 pounds. Howe also went 41-13 this season, giving him 100 wins. He became the 23rd wrestler in school history to reach that plateau, with a 100-43 record (69-9 percent). He was also the district and sectional champion.

Junior Gatlin Keehner was a sectional champion at 285 pounds and finished third at district. He had an excellent record as well, going 37-11. He will be looking to go to state next year.

With Sumner-Fredericksburg’s exit from the conference, the conference will become a little more wide open next season. The Bulldog wrestlers will attempt to move up in the conference tournament with hard work in the off-season and wrestling in the summer tournaments.

The team was 11-3-1 in dual meets—a very good dual season Returning for next year will be Keehner at 285, Brayde Miller and David Martin at 195, Braxton Berns at 220, Bryce Decker at 138 and Chase Strub at 160. Kordell Ducharme will hopefully have a full, injury-free season at one of the lower weights. The 182-pound replacement looks to be Shane Hexom.
