The 2013-14 MFL MarMac Bulldog girls basketball team finished their season at 14-8, losing in the second round of the regional.

This was a year of growth for sophomore Haley Vogt, who put up 265 points to lead the team. She also led in free throws made, with 50, and was rewarded with a second team all-conference selection.

Lexi Dettbarn was the team leader in made three pointers, with 58, which set a new record. She is also the career three pointers made leader, with one more season to go as a Bulldog.

Senior Madelyn Vogt was a first team all-conference selection and an all-region selection as well.

Senior Erin Kinley had 90 points and 85 rebounds this season, while fellow senior Briana Berger had 20 points and 31 rebounds.

This year, the Bulldogs returned to a running offense more often than not, so the replacements for Vogt and Kinley will have to be scorers and rebounders. Look for Jillian Haberichter to replace Kinley and Chaun’te Drahn to replace Vogt in the line-up.

Some season highlights included a six-game win streak from Jan. 4 to Jan. 21. The Bulldogs also had a 19-point comeback over South Winneshiek in the postseason. The Bulldogs will contend next season, but will need to watch out for teams with height, such as Clayton Ridge.
