girls upset Seneca

The 12th seeded Wauzeka-Steuben girls basketball team (5-15) upset host and number 5 seed Seneca (15-8) 37-35 in a hotly contested Division 5 Regional Tuesday night. 

Wauzeka-Steuben led 5-4 after the first period, but Seneca came back to tie the game at 11-11 at the half. 

Wauzeka-Steuben took the third quarter 11-9 to gain a 22-20 lead entering the fourth frame. 

Each team scored 15 points in the fourth period as Wauzeka-Steuben came away with the big win. 

Wauzeka-Steuben will next face Ridge and Valley champion Ithaca Friday night. 

Celina Giddings and Elizabeth McCullick each netted 9 points for Wauzeka-Steuben.

Brianna Brockway and Taylor Redman scored 9 points apiece for Seneca.
