Cody Mason scored 37 points to lead the Bulldog attack, as the Bulldogs won the District 7 title with a 70-54 victory over the Denver Cyclones on Feb. 25. MFL MarMac moved on to sub-state for the third straight year.

Brandon Schneider scored three straight threes as the Bulldogs got out to an early 9-7 lead. The first quarter was nip and tuck, as the Bulldogs had a seven-point lead at one point, but Denver got as close as three points, at 20-17. The Bulldogs managed to lead 22-17 at the end of one.

Denver never led after the first quarter. The Bulldogs opened up the second quarter with a 7-0 lead. They built a nine-point lead by halftime. Cody Mason scored 16 first half points and was 5 for 5 from the free throw line.

The second half was all Cody Mason, as he scored 21 of the Bulldogs’ 34 points in the half. The Bulldogs out-scored Denver 21-13 in the third quarter and opened up a 17-point lead.

Denver got frustrated in the fourth quarter, as one technical foul and one intentional foul were called on the Cyclones. Although Denver out-scored the Bulldogs 14-13 in the final quarter, it was largely because the Bulldogs went to a ball control offense and substituted out.

With the victory, the Bulldogs moved to 17-6. Denver finished the season at 13-10. Cody Mason was the game’s leading scorer with 37 points. Denver’s Mitchell Schumaker had 19 points to lead the Cyclones.
