The Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce and the city of Prairie du Chien are co-sponsoring an Open House Reception for 2014 Winter Olympic bronze medalist Matt Antoine. Antoine, 28, won the bronze in the men’s skeleton in Sochi, Russia.

The reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 14 in the Dousman House on St. Feriole Island. Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Chamber of Commerce Director Robert Moses said, “Everyone in Prairie du Chien and the surrounding area is invited to come to the reception and show your hometown spirit in congratulating Matt.”

Moses also noted that many dignitaries have been invited to join in welcoming Matt home, including Gov. Scott Walker and other political representatives. A number of regional media outlets will also be represented at the event.

Antoine will also be the Grand Marshall in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 15. His parents, Greg De Julio and Mary Antoine, will serve as the King and Queen of the parade.

Line-up will be at 9 a.m. on the island and the parade will begin at 10 a.m. Back by popular demand will be Jimmy the Piper, who will perform on bagpipes during the parade and at various sponsoring businesses afterward.
