United Methodists to host World Day of Prayer March 7
Women of the Guttenberg United Methodist Church invite all community members to attend the World Day of Prayer service on Friday, March 7, at 1:00 p.m.
This year's theme is "Streams in the Desert" and was written by the women of Egypt. It will feature an exploration of the Biblical story of the Samaritan's woman's conversation at the well with Jesus.
The mission offering that day funds grants made to women's and children's groups in each country.
The first organized "day of prayer for the world" held nationally was in Canada in 1920. Now, hundreds of thousands from around the world gather to collectively worship on the first Friday in March. The ecumenical spirit of the day focuses on transcendling religious and cultural differences.
