Marquette approves fiscal year 2015 budget

 

The city of Marquette approved its fiscal year 2015 budget at the Feb. 18 city council meeting. The budget runs from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. As of June 30, 2015, the city has budgeted to have an ending fund balance of $2,617,738.

 

The estimated total tax levy rate per $1,000 valuation on regular property is $6.23975, or $623.98 on a $100,000 property.

 

The city’s biggest expenses are public works and capital projects. For the upcoming fiscal year, Marquette looks to spend $1,090,000 on capital projects, with that money going toward the overlook and boardwalk project, Edgar Street sewer re-location, downtown economic development, senior housing, Round House Park, an electronic sign board, Timber Ridge park development, dike rehab and street paving.
