Lawrence E. Stluka, 85, of rural Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, Feb. 21, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
He was born July 24, 1928 in Eastman, the son of Edward and Mertie (Pintz) Stluka. He married Joanne Lessard on Oct. 3, 1951 at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. She preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 2005. He farmed his entire life and loved gardening. Lawrence was a seed corn dealer for DeKalb Seed.
He is survived by his son Larry (Carrie) of Wauzeka; his daughters, Doris Bedward of DeSoto, Lois (Nick) Jones of Waukon, and Nancy (Larry) Bedward of Woodman; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren and his faithful companions, Sassy, Gracie and Lucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter-in-law Kristine; brothers, Elmer and Jerry; sisters, Rosella Joab and Alma Wall along with grandsons, Brian Bedward and Wyatt Stluka.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Rev. Victor Feltes officiating with burial in the Campbell Cemetery both in Eastman. Friends may call on Monday, Feb. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
