Elliott to State
fourth trip to State Meet

Prairie du Chien’s Taylor Elliott took first place at 113 pounds at the Division 2 Sectional Wrestling Meet at Adams Friendship on Saturday to earn a trip to the State Wrestling Tournament in Madison, which runs from Feb. 27 through March 1.
Elliott, a senior, is the first wrestler in Prairie du Chien history to earn a state tournament berth in all four years.
To get to the championship match, Elliott pinned Cohl Routson (13-17), a freshman from Portage, in :57. Elliott then defeated freshman Christian Lamon (32-10) of Sparta by major decision 14-1. In the championship match, Elliott defeated senior Jason Clapper (40-3) of Lodi 4-0.
Clayton Beers at 120 pounds and Alex Wasechek at 220 also competed at the sectional meet for the Prairie du Chien/Wauzeka-Steuben wrestling team which scored 21 team points.
Beers, a sophomore, finished his season with a 33-6 record. Beers lost to Brandon Robinson (31-11), a junior from Evansville-Albany, 5-4 in his first match.
Wasechek, a senior, finished his season at 19-9. Logan Degenhardt (38-9), a Sparta senior, pinned Wasechek in 3:27 in the first match. Stephen Voights (39-8), a senior from Brodhead-Juda, defeated Wasechek 14-11.
The River Ridge-Cassville wrestling team had two wrestlers competing in the Division 3 Necedah Sectional on Saturday.
Desmond Crapp, a 145-pound junior, finished his season at 29-17. Crapp defeated Kyle Woodward (27-10), a sophomore from New Lisbon, 9-3 in his opening match. Crapp lost by fall in 4:33 to Jared Roen (42-3), a junior from Riverdale. Crapp then pinned Jordan Decorah (15-12), a Poynette freshman, in 2:37. Crapp lost 4-1 to Nick Bennett (27-15), a senior from Weston-Ithaca.
River Ridge-Cassville senior David Seng (22-22) lost his opening match at 113 pounds to Hunter Dischler (41-2), a sophomore from Weston-Ithaca, by fall in 1:38. Adam Becker (35-7), a Johnson Creek sophomore, then pinned Seng in 3:29.
River Ridge-Cassville scored 6 team points at the Sectional Meet.
