PdC Cheerleaders go to State

Cheerleaders to State
The cheerleaders are, row 1: Stephanie Elmquist, Nicole Mims, and Allison Lynn. Row 2: Mariah Slaght, Lindsey Ohlert, Jamie Turner, and Becky Welsch.

On Saturday, Feb. 15 the Prairie du Chien basketball cheerleaders competed at the WACPC (Wisconsin Association of Cheer and Pom Coaches) Northern Cheer Regional Competition held at Wisconsin Rapids High School. The team competed in two categories. They placed seventh in the cheer dance category. The girls placed second in the non-stunt category, earning them the opportunity to advance on to state competition in that category at the Alliant Center in Madison on Saturday, February 22.

Coach Kelli Saxe said, “I am very proud of the basketball cheerleaders! They have been working extremely hard this season and their efforts have been rewarded. Competing for cheer is much different than competing for dance because the categories we compete in do not divide the divisions by the size of our school. Instead, they divide the divisions by the number of girls on the team. Because of this, we competed against some very large schools. I feel so blessed to have had such successful cheer and dance seasons this year! I have an extremely wonderful group of ladies on my teams!”
