Barbara K. Petersen, 74, a longtime Janesville resident, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, Feb. 12, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center Emergency Dept.
She was born June 9, 1939 in Winona, Minn., the daughter of the late Harold E. and Faye V. (Withey) Clausen. On April 4, 1959 she married Adolph H. Petersen in Lynxville. They moved to Janesville, where they started their family. Barbara had worked at Prent Corp. for 10 years. Her greatest role came as wife and mother, and took great pride in being able to be a stay-at-home mom.
Barbara enjoyed baking and dancing. She loved to travel, and always remembered the Caribbean cruise she and Adolph took for their 25th anniversary, and also her travels to Las Vegas. She loved camping, spending time in Lynxville with her family and dear friends. She had a deep affection for her cats, and also was a very avid Green Bay Packer fan, and especially of Aaron Rodgers. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, and more than ever with her grandchildren. She was a member of First Congregational Church, UCC.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 54 years, Adolph; her two daughters, Tammy Ross, of Janesville, and Lynda (Greg) Hanson, of Niles, Ohio; her three beloved grandchildren, Brad (Briana Fenwick) Hanson, Jennifer (Eli) Larson, and Kristin (Rob) Watson; her brother, Harold “Pork” (Sharon) Clausen, of Lynxville; nieces, nephews, extended family of in-laws, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Whitcomb-Lynch Funeral Home & Cremation Services, with Rev. Jerry Amstutz officiating. Entombment will take place in Milton Lawns Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
