Bulldog girls win season finale over North Fayette Valley

By Michael Newton

The MFL MarMac girls closed out the regular season with a 51-43 win over the North Fayette Valley (NFV) Tigerhawks on Feb. 11.

The Bulldogs raced out to a 14-6 lead in the first quarter and kept the lead throughout the second quarter, leading 26-14 at halftime.

NFV was not able to close the 12-point gap in the third quarter, as the Bulldogs matched them on points.

Then a 12-2 NFV run in the fourth quarter made it a ballgame. However, the Bulldogs managed to make their free throws as time wound down, pulling out the 51-43 victory.

Junior guard Lexi Dettbarn led the Bulldogs with 15 points. With three three-pointers that night, she also set the season three-point record at 54 made threes. Dettbarn also has the career three-point record. Both records were held by Chelsea Lamker, who played from 2007-2010. Haley Vogt also gave the Bulldogs 13 points.

With the win, their regular season record moved to 13-7 overall.
