Truck hits guard rail in Utica
On Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 6:30 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a one-vehicle accident in Utica Township.
A 2003 Ford one-ton dually pickup owned and operated by Mitchel Baker, 22, Gays Mills was westbound on Highway 171 approximately six-tenths of a mile east of Old Gays Road. The steering in the pickup failed, the front tires turned abruptly to the right causing the truck to strike the guard rail several times. Because of the loss of steering, the westbound lane of the highway was partially blocked until a wrecker could remove the vehicle.
There were no injuries. The truck received moderate damage.
Assisting at the scene were the Crawford County Highway Department and Digger Don’s Towing.
