Ronald Lawrence Coleman, 83, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, died at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home on Sunday, Jan. 19.
He was born on May 9, 1930, in Soldiers Grove, the son of Willis and Bernice (Conley) Coleman. He was raised and educated in the area, attending Crawford County Wisconsin rural school. On July 25, 1951, Ronald was united in marriage to Rosella Heisz at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Gays Mills. This union was blessed with four children. Together they lived in Wisconsin and Iowa over the years. He worked at a powder plant, foundry, and did road construction. The past 18 plus years they resided in Strawberry Point. Ronald was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Lion’s Club. He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Rosella of Strawberry Point; three children, Dick (Linda) Coleman of Mt. Hope, Pamela (Carl) Wissbaum of Muscoda, and Randal (Madelyn) Coleman of Strawberry Point; a daughter-in-law, Mary (Bill) Emler of La Crosse; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy in 1979; a great-grandson, Zackrey Rider; and his brother, Robert.
Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 25, at 9 a.m. until the time of service at the United Methodist Church in Strawberry Point.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, at the United Methodist Church in Strawberry Point. Rev. Leonard Ranson will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery - Mt. Sterling.
