Bulldog boys fall to Waterloo Columbus

The MFL Marmac Bulldog boys traveled to Waverly on Saturday, Jan. 11 to play in the NICL Shootout at Wartburg College to play a 1 p.m. matinee against Waterloo Columbus Catholic. After one quarter, the Bulldogs fell behind 13-8, and never led at the end of any quarter. Columbus led 34-26 at the half and 56-44 at the end of three. MFL MarMac did mount a small comeback in the fourth quarter, winning the quarter 25-21, but it was not enough, as the Bulldogs fell 77-69.
The Bulldogs had four scorers in double figures, with Cody Mason scoring 16 points, Noah Schultz 15, Austin Schoulte 12 and Andrew Zeeh 10. The Bulldogs made five of 17 threes (29 percent) and were 30 of 56 overall (53.5 percent), but were four of 20 (20 percent) from the free throw line. The Bulldogs managed only eight offensive rebounds off their 26 misses.
The loss was the first for the Bulldogs, as they dropped to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in Upper Iowa Conference play.
