Rose M. Trautsch


Rose M. Trautsch, 93, of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. 

She was born Sept. 15, 1920 in Eastman, the daughter of Frank and Clara (Sprosty) Mezera. She married Lyle Trautsch on Oct. 15, 1940 in Eastman. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1993. Together they farmed in the Seneca area. Rose also worked in food service for the Seneca Public School for over 20 years. She was well known in the area for making wedding cakes and she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was a loving wife, mother, mother- in-law and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all. 

She is survived by her son Ronald (Arlene) of Prairie du Chien and her daughter Betty (John) Fisher of Eastman; her brothers, Harold (Ethel) Mezera of Stevens Point, and Frank (Betty) Mezera of Eau Claire; her sister Catherine Steger of Prairie du Chien; daughters-in-law Sharon Rainey of Arkansas and Deanna Trautsch of Prairie du Chien; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons, Roger and LeRoy Trautsch; her brothers, Donald and Lawrence Mezera; her sisters, Dorothy Day, Sr. Frances Claire Mezera, Lucille Dagnon and Rita Hampton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish in Prairie du Chien with Rev. James Weighner officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Seneca. Friends may call at the church on Monday, Dec. 2, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
