Florence Nettie Kozelka, 98, of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Prairie Maison Care Center.
She was born on the family farm in Patch Grove, on July 4, 1915 to Frank and Alta (Pendleton) Ellis. She married Adolph (Oddie) Kozelka on May 31, 1939 in Waukon, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1985. Florence did clerical work most of her married life. She was an active member of the Eagles Club Auxiliary and also played in the Ding-a-Ling Musical Band for 38 years.
She is survived by her daughters Connie Corlett of McGregor, Iowa and Nancy (Burt) Gregerson of La Crosse; grandchildren, John (Cindy) Corlett of Parker, Colo., Jolene (Randy) Lucas of Lake Mills, Jeff Corlett of McGregor, Iowa, Jennifer Corlett and Jennifer Weltzin of Algonquin, Ill., Kimberly (Terry) Cushman of Dakota, Minn. and James (Jennifer) Gregerson of West Salem; nine great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Hazel Ellis of Patch Grove along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Edith Long and Frances Pankoff; brothers, Burr, Herbert, Donald, Oscar and Clifford Ellis; son-in-law John Corlett and a granddaughter Judy Corlett.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Joe Irvin officiating with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. There will be an Eagles Auxiliary tribute at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Florence’s name to the Eagles Club Auxiliary.
