Tractor driver dies of apparent heart attack

On Nov. 12, at approximately 5 p.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a possible tractor rollover with a possible injured subject on Badger Road in Marietta Township.

Sheriff’s deputies, fire department personnel and EMS personnel responded. Upon arrival, it was learned that the tractor had not rolled over but had rolled into the woods and struck a tree. The tractor was still on its wheels and still running.

The operator of the tractor, Dean Harris, 70, Blue River, was picking corn when he had an apparent heart attack and the tractor slowly rolled into the woods, struck a tree and stopped. Harris was still seated on the tractor when emergency personnel arrived but he was deceased. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene by Crawford County Coroner Joe Morovits.

Assisting at the scene were the Boscobel Fire Department, the Boscobel Rescue Squad, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Steuben First Responders.
