Gerald H. “Jerry” Tippery, 82, of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, Nov. 8, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 30, 1931 in Prairie du Chien the son of Herschel and Magdalene “Lena” (Didling) Tippery. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Anna Bouzek on Feb. 13, 1954. Jerry worked at National Decorated Metals and later Selch’s Dairy in Prairie du Chien. He retired after working in maintenance for the Prairie du Chien school district for 32 years.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Ann of Prairie du Chien; his children, Bill (Andrea) of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Jerry (Phyllis), Cindy Bender and Fritz (Wanda) all of Prairie du Chien; his brothers, Tom of Odon, Ind. and Ken (Nancy) of Lodi; his sisters, Faye Kautman of McGregor, Iowa, Mary (Fred) Thor of Fitchburg, Peggy (Perre) Abel of Marquette, Iowa and Shirley Gorder of Superior; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, James and John; a daughter Sheila Hackett; stepfathers, Alden Tippery and Delford Pitzer Sr.; brothers, Larry Tippery, Delford Pitzer, Dicky Tippery; brother-in-law Don Kautman; sisters, Joyce Gillingham and Betty Fischer.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rev. Nick Barootian officiating, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. Friends may call on Monday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien and at the church on Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
