Carol J. Young, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 27, at her home at Opportunity Village, in Clear Lake, Iowa.
Carol Jean Young was born Jan. 5, 1931, in McGregor, the daughter of Mark C. and Floy Melvin Young. She lived in Marquette, until the time of her father’s death. She then lived with her sister and brother-in-law Winifred and Cletus Friedman in Moline, Ill. In 1971 she became one of the first residents of Opportunity Village. It has been her loving home for forty-two years. She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat and had a great love for family, friends, dogs and cappuccino’s.
Survivors include her niece and guardian, Sara Macik (Edward), Bella Vista, Ariz.; nephews, Mark Friedman (Judith), Peoria, Ill. Michael Friedman (Lona), East Moline, Ill; and brother-in-law, Cletus Friedman, East Moline, Ill.; many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and great- great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Winifred Young Friedman, Mary Young Middy; brothers Mel and Joe Young and niece Suzanne Jean Hanegmon.
A Celebration of Life service was held Friday, Nov. 1, at the Kinney Lindstrom Center at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, Iowa. Pastor Rich Murray officiated. Memorials may be left to Opportunity Village, PO Box 622, Clear Lake, IA 50426, Ward - Van Slyke is handling the arrangements.

A special thanks to the staff of Opportunity Village for all the love, care and kindness given to Aunt Carol throughout her life and illness.
