The MFL MarMac Bulldogs traveled to Guttenberg to play the Clayton Ridge Eagles on Friday, Oct. 25 in their final game of the season. The Bulldog offense failed to click throughout the game, as the team turned the ball over six times, including once in the end zone when Matt Hansel jumped on the fumble for an Eagle touchdown.
The Eagle offense, led by Kohle Helle’s 303 yards of passing—with two touchdown passes, and running for 63 yards, including a touchdown—racked up 520 total yards of offense against the Bulldogs. The Eagles main passing target was Trey Roehlk, who caught eight balls for 153 yards and one touchdown. Dylan Preston scored three touchdowns, two of them rushing, as part of his team-leading 67 yards. He also had one touchdown reception. The Eagle defense also sacked the Bulldog quarterback, Austin Schoulte, six times.
The Bulldogs managed only 42 yards of offense. Schoulte passed for 26 yards and also ran for negative 10 yards. Nathan McGlaughlin led the team with 25 receiving yards, while Bryce Burke’s 10 rushing yards led the Bulldogs in that area. The defense was led by Matthew Meyer’s 16 tackles—nine solo and seven assists. He also had one sack. Gage Bohland had one fumble recovery.
The loss ended the Bulldogs’ season at 1-8 overall and 0-6 in conference play. Clayton Ridge finished 8-1 overall and made the 1A playoffs. The 2014 football schedule will be announced in the spring.
