Debra A. Dwornik, 53, of Prairie du Chien passed away at her home with her beloved husband Phil of twenty three years, mother, sister, and two dogs by her side from advanced cancer that was untreatable. She will be dearly missed by her husband, loving and caring parents, Terrance and Joanne A. Luebke and cherished sister, Tina C. Luebke. This sudden loss will be felt by all her friends and those who got to know her from working at the Nelson True Value Hardware Store for the past eleven years where she shared advice, laughter and jokes. Unfortunately there was not enough time to fulfill all her dreams including her last one of returning to Wyalusing Park one last time as she had planned.
But, happiness and comfort were found in the park, with many of her friends when she became ill by camping there one last time with them, where she was well known by the park staff. The closeness and common interest of she and her husband led them to Eastman in 1997 to buy and clear land to build a cabin, garage and house side by side before finding time to camp again together.
Her fondness of having rescue dogs and her love of the park, along with the talent to paint gave her the opportunity to combine them all to raise funds for Wyalusing Park and The River and Bluffs Animal Shelter, both of which she was an active member of.
For her it was principles, the journey and no regrets. Debra’s final wishes asked that there were no flowers of any type, but rather a donation to your favorite charity or hers, Tina’s K-9 Rescue 8838 County Highway I Sparta, WI 54656.
