Mary K. Hannah, 68, of Prairie du Chien passed away surrounded by her family Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Madison, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born Dec. 27, 1944, in Prairie du Chien the daughter of Arthur and Kathryn (Rosenbaum) Steiner. She married James Hannah on May 28, 1966. Mary loved working with elementary school children, especially those with special needs. She was an avid Packer, Badger and Brewer fan and enjoyed attending her family’s sporting events. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary where she acted as president.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jim Hannah of Prairie du Chien; her children, Peg (Joe) Sanders of LaPorte City, Iowa, Tamie (Khalil) Thadi of Casablanca, Morocco, Heather (Titus Singleton) Hannah of Madison, Bill (Stacey) Hannah of Viroqua; her brothers, Richard (Jeanette) and Mike (Donna) Steiner both of Prairie du Chien; her grandchildren, Ben (Autumn), Alex, Neysa, Rakia, Sarah, Sumayah, Hamza, Lina, Drake, Katie, Ryan, Tyler and Reagan along with her great-grandchildren, Quinn, Blaine and Lina. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Dale, Ted, David and Jack Steiner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be a wake scripture at 7:30 p.m.
