Judy Troester Manning
Judy Ann Troester Manning, 60, passed from this life on September 16, 2013, at her home in Spring, Texas. Judy’s cremated remains were buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery during a burial service held on Saturday October 19, 2013.
Judy was born on August 5, 1953 in McGregor, IA. She was the fourth child of Raymond and Marjonell Troester. Her early years were spent on the farm with her family. Judy lived in Elkader with the Hamiltons, a loving family, from 7th grade until graduation from High School.
After graduation Judy moved to Texas and became a flight attendant for Texas International Airlines which later merged with Continental Airlines. Flying was her passion as well as her Pomeranian puppies. Those puppies were her “children.” Her cards were always signed from Judy and her puppies.
Judy was married for a few years in the 1980s to John Manning. They divorced and he is now deceased.
For the past number of years Judy lived in a little home in Spring, Texas that she was very proud of. She had suffered a neck injury while working as a flight attendant and had been on disability. In 2010 she was diagnosed with throat cancer. The treatments of radiation and chemo cured the cancer but Judy never got over the devastating effects of those drugs on her small body.
Judy is survived by her brothers Dennis (Susan) Troester and Richard (Kay) Troester and her sister Susan Riegel as well as half-sister Kathy (Todd) Idhe and half-brothers Jeff Schmelzer and Doug Schmelzer and many nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death were her father and mother, her stepfather Kenneth Schmelzer, her grandparents, former husband, John Manning, and special aunt and uncle Jo and Fritz Roche and some of her beloved pets.
