City to request delay of RR crossing closure

City to request delay of RR crossing closure

At Tuesday night’s regular meeting of the Prairie du Chien Common Council, the group approved a letter of opposition to last week’s proposed decision from the Office of the Commissioner of Railroads, which is to close the Haydn Street railroad crossing in the city no later than Jan. 15, 2014. The letter, drafted by city staff, will specifically request a delay of the closing until after the Marquette Road project is completed.

Before a final ruling is issued, written comments filed with the railroad commissioner in support of or in opposition to the decision are allowed until Oct. 23. (Contrary to previous information provided to the Courier Press), the public as well as the parties involved in the case may all submit written comments to: Jeff Plale, commissioner, 610 N. Whitney Way, P.O. Box 7854, Madison, WI 53707-7854.
