North Fayette Valley TigerHawks too much for Bulldogs

The North Fayette Valley TigerHawks hosted the MFL MarMac Bulldogs on Oct. 11 at their first homecoming. The Bulldogs played their second game in the week after playing a makeup date in St. Ansgar on Monday, Oct. 7. 

 

The TigerHawks scored on their first two plays and never looked back, leading 39-0 after one quarter, 60-0 at halftime and 66-0 after three quarters, which was the final score. 

 

The Bulldogs suffered numerous injuries in the game, including one to quarterback Austin Schoulte. Schoulte was replaced by sophomore Bryce Burke who was 1-5 passing, which was good for 10 yards. He ran three times for -8 yards. 

 

The Bulldogs had a total of 32 yards on offense and got two total first downs. Colby Ferguson led the Bulldog rushing attack with 11 rushes for 14 yards. Brandon Schneider caught Burke’s pass for 10 yards. 

 

The TigerHawks passed for 136 yards and ran for 208 yards, making for 344 total yards of offense. The TigerHawk defense forced four turnovers. 

 

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 1-6 overall and 0-5 in the district. The TigerHawks moved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in district, good for solo first in 1A-4. North Fayette Valley joined New Hampton, Waukon, Decorah and Wapsie Valley, Fairbank as the only 7-0 teams in eleven-man football in Northeast Iowa.  

 

The Friday, Oct. 18 game versus South Winneshiek is senior night for the Bulldogs. It will be the last home game for seniors Bryce McKee (out for the season), Brandon Schneider, Bret Corlett, Matt Jacobs, Nathan Howe, Gage Bohland and Jesse Metzger.
