Cross country wraps up regular season at West Delaware

A sunny day welcomed the Bulldog cross country team to Hart Ridge Golf course, outside Manchester, on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
The boys’ race was won by Josh Yeager, of Center Point-Urbana, who had a time of 16:19. CP-U won the meet with 72 points.
The Bulldog boys were paced by Brian Ayers with a time of 20:35. Only three other Bulldogs raced, as the team was without Sam Pfeiffer and Noah Schultz, so there was no team score. Kordell Ducharme was the second Bulldog finisher with a time of 21:41. Ashton Houg then came in at 21:53 and Bobby Lang at 23:42.
The girls were 11th out of 17 teams. Cascade’s Becca McDermont ran the girls course in a time of 15:34. Marcy Klein and Chaun’te Drahn were the top Bulldogs, finishing 39th and 42nd, respectively. Klein ran with a time of 17:21 and Drahn came in at 17:23. Kaitlyn Wedo and Maya Burke were the next group of Bulldog finishers, coming in at 18:28 and 18:33. Fifth for the Bulldogs was Marissa Lechtenberg at 18:59. Also running were Laycee Roys and Allison Corlett.
The next race is UIC conference at Luana, hosted by Kee High, on Thursday, Oct. 17.
State qualifying for the boys will be Thursday, Oct. 24 at North Fayette Valley. The girls will compete at Waverly/Shell Rock in the 3A qualifier. The combined team of MFLMarMac/Postville places them in 3A.
