Donna M. Sadewasser
Donna Mae (Barnhart) Sadewasser, 83, of Guttenberg, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Guttenberg Care Center.
Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 6, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Guttenberg, and one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 7, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Shane Anderson.
Interment was at Guttenberg City Cemetery.
Donna was born the daughter of Harry and Alvina (Steinfadt) Barnhart, March 5, 1930, near Colesburg.
Donna graduated from the Colesburg High School in 1948. She was a homemaker, and with Delos, was a foster parent. Together they owned and operated Sadewasser’s Draperies, for over 50 years. She taught Sunday school for 40 plus years, sang in the St. John’s Choir, and headed the American Red Cross Blood Drive for 30 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Ingleside Club, Guttenberg Literary Club, Josephine Rebekah Lodge #7, and Guttenberg Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, the Chicago Cubs, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Wizard of Oz.
She is survived by her husband, Delos; one daughter, Mary (Terry) Shupe of Sioux City; one son, Doug (Karen) Sadewasser of Manchester; four grandchildren, Angela (Drew) Furst, Kim Sadewasser, Chris Sadewasser, and Michelle Sadewasser; two sisters, Janice (Jim) Scherbring and Ruth Harbaugh and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lowell Barnhart; three sisters, Marge Moser, Kathleen Royalty and Jean Amsden, and one step-grandson Jeramy Shupe.
