Oct. 1 vs. Postville

The Postville Lady Pirates won a hard fought match with the MFL MarMac Bulldogs on Tuesday, Oct. 1, in Postville. The Pirates won the first two sets 25-13, 25-22, but the Bulldogs fought back to win the third set 25-17 before falling in the fourth set 25-15. 


The Bulldogs were led by Amber Adney who had 10 Kills, 13 digs and a 13 of 13 serving performance with three aces. Briana Berger was 24 of 24 serving, with five aces. She also contributed 15 assists. Lexi Dettbarn was a perfect 10 of 10 serving and Jillian Haberichter had three aces. 


The Pirates also had some impressive stats with Amber Schutte going 26 of 26 serving, with eight kills and four aces. Mariah Mostaert had four aces. Anjela Bubiy had 10 kills and 27 digs, while Alanda Fishback had 25 digs and four kills. 


The Pirates record is now 3-12, with two of those victories over MFL MarMac, and 1-5 in conference. 


The Bulldogs dropped to 0-18 overall and 0-5 in the Upper Iowa Conference. 


Oct. 3 vs. Starmont

Starmont came to Monona for a conference game on Thursday, Oct. 3. The Bulldogs started out well in the first set, taking a 2-0 lead, but the Starmont Stars then scored four points and eventually had a 9-3 lead. The Bulldogs got as close as 10-5 before Starmont put the hammer down .The Bulldogs rallied to get as close as 21-13 before eventually losing 25-14. 


In set two, the Bulldogs were down as close as 7-6 before Starmont pushed the lead to 15-6. The Bulldogs got no closer than 16-9 before losing 25-10.  


In the final set, the Stars got out to a 4-0 lead, which they would not relinquish, taking the match 25-11.


The Bulldogs were led by Briana Berger who had a nine of 10 serving performance that included three aces, as well as nine assists and 10 digs. Nattalee Heins had three kills and two aces, while Autumn Meine had five kills and was five for five serving.


The Bulldogs dropped to 0-19 overall and 0-6 in the conference. Starmont is 3-3 in the Upper Iowa Conference. 


The Bulldogs will have senior night on Thursday, Oct. 10 against West Central. This will be the last home game for Nattalee Heins, Autumn Meine and Briana Berger.
