MFL MarMac Cross Country highlights

Oct. 1 Jesup Invitational

On Oct. 1, the MFL MarMac Bulldog Cross Country Team traveled to the Jesup Golf course for a 30-team invitational. 

 

The girls 4K was won by North Linn’s Nicole Miller who had a time of 14:34. The first Bulldogs to finish were the duo of Chaun’te Drahn and Marcy Klein who finished 93rd and 94th, respectively,  with a time of 17:33, but, due to incomplete teams, scored 81 and 82 points. Kaitlyn Wedo was 99th overall for 84 points, and had a time of 17:41. Marissa Lechtenberg was next at 121. She had a time of 18:12, which was good for 102 points. Maya Burke was the 130th finisher for 108 points at 18:33. Allison Corlett and Laycee Roys were 151st and 152nd at a time of 19:33, which gained 128 and 129 points. The team had a total of 458 points, placing  them 19 out of 21 teams.

 

The boys team finished 21 of 22 teams. Noah Schultz made his debut, leading the Bulldogs with a 121st finish at a time of 21:55. That time was more than five minutes behind winner Josh Yeager of CenterPoint-Urbana who finished at 16:49 over the 5K course. Brian Ayers was three seconds behind Schultz at 123rd. The next Bulldog finisher was Tristen Kautman at 144th, with a time of 23:07. Then came Kordell DuCharme, at 145th, with a time of 23:15. Ashton Houg finished at 148th at 23:48. Bobby Lang was the 150th finisher with a time of 23:55.

 

Oct. 3 Western Dubuque Invitational

On Oct. 3, the team traveled to Epworth for the Western Dubuque Invitational. The boys finished 17 of 17 at the meet. Michael Melchert of Monticello won the 5K race with a time of 15:58. Noah Schultz was fastest on the day, with a 20:49 time for 81 points. Brian Ayers, at a time of 21:17, scored 92 points. Scoring 95 points was Kordell Ducharme  who had a time of 21:30. Next up,gaining 100 points, was Ashton Houg at a time of 22:17. Bobby Lang, finishing at 23:38, scored 105 points.

 

The girls race was won by Cascade’s Becca McDermott, who edged out her teammate Kylie Kelchen at 16:09. The Bulldog girls finished 13 of 16 teams with 352 points. The girls finished in this order: 57—Marcy Klein, 18:51; 58—Chaun’te Drahn, 18:51; 69—Kaitlyn Wedo, 19:26; 82 —Maya Burke, 20:09; 86—Marissa Lechtenberg, 20:41; 89—Laycee Roys, 20:49; 101—Allison Corlett, 22:04.

 

The top MFL MarMac Middle School finishers were  Kolten Matthews, running two miles in 12:51. The boys were 12 of 12 teams. 

 

The top girl finisher was Kennedy Maske, finishing 40th, at a time of 14:10. However, the girls were unable to field a complete team for points.
