Joanne K. Hinrichs


Joanne Kay Hinrichs, 71, Guttenberg, passed away suddenly at her home on Acre Street on Sept. 5, 2013.

Private funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 9, at Tuecke Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Guttenberg.

Inurnment will be at a later date in the Sibley Cemetery.

Joanne was born on July 10, 1942, in Sibley, the daughter of Kenneth and Grace Schutte. She graduated from Sibley High School and then went on to receive her Degree in Elementary Education at Northwestern College.

She married Wayne Hinrichs on Dec. 23, 1966, in the Salem Reformed Church, Little Rock. 

Joanne was an elementary teacher for many years, until her retirement and then she substituted a while longer. She was famous for her beautiful wedding cakes and special occasion decorated cakes, her basket making, her great love for animals, especially Stoli, Brody and Meeks. 

She had a deep Christian faith and unselfish love for her children and grandchildren, who were the love of her life. She was here to see the birth of her newborn granddaughter, Charlotte.

Joanne is survived by her children, Leah (Brett) Vladika, Golden, Colo., Andrea (David) Finch, Cottage Grove, Minn., Matthew (special friend, Amanda) Hinrichs, Guttenberg, Nathan Hinrichs, Elkader; sister, Beth (Michael) Thole, Sibley; sisters-in-law, Harriet (Dennis) Fiihr, Audrey (Ray) Hassing; grandchildren, Calder and Cora Vladika and Julia, Henrik, Louis, Charlotte Finch; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, a daughter, Theresa, who passed away in 1980 and her husband, Wayne, who passed away Dec. 21, 2010.
