Ruby E. (Revenig) Marshall, 87, of Bloomington, passed away at home on Sunday, Sept. 15, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ruby was born on June 8, 1926, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Marcella (Mueller) Revenig. On September 4, 1948, she was united in marriage to Donald Marshall. Ruby was a devoted housewife and mother. She was employed at Cudahay Cheese Factory in Bloomington, cutting and wrapping cheese from 1966 until 1973. Ruby loved mowing her lawn, gardening of all kinds, occasional gambling, yearly trips, and playing Yahtzee. Ruby was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington.
Survivors include five children, Carol (John) Long, Glenn (Jenny) Marshall, Donna (Joe) Crubel, Angila (Robert) Moore, Calif. and Jason Marshall, Okla.; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Irene Revenig, Betty Brennan, and Shirley (Donald) Schueller; one aunt, Marilyn Bechtal, all of Iowa; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Donald, Ruby was preceded in death by her three brothers, Richard, LeRoy (Virginia) and Ronald (Dorothy) Revenig, close aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in Blake’s Prairie Cemetery, Bloomington Township. Family and friends may call on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Ruby E. Marshall Memorial Fund has been established with donations being given to some of Ruby’s favorite charities.
