Jack D. Williams, 83, of Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien.
Jack Donald, the son of Carl H. and Laura H. (Louthain) Williams, was born Aug. 2, 1930, in Cuba City. He attended the Bridgeport grade school. Jack was united in marriage with Donna D. Kramer on Aug. 5, 1952, in Eastman. To this union two children, Rick and Karen, were born. Jack owned and operated Jack Williams Excavating for thirty-one years, retiring in 2000. He also operated a small trucking business. Jack was a member of the Beetown Gospel Hall. He trusted the Lord as his Savior on Feb. 18, 1964 and was baptized Oct. 11, 1964. He enjoyed fishing, attending rodeos with his grandsons and visiting with family and friends.
Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna, of Prairie du Chien; one son, Rick J. Williams of Prairie du Chien; three grandsons, Cory Check, Craig (Beth) Check and Curt (Jamie Oppriecht) Check; eight great-grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters, Bill (Kathy) Williams of Pearl City, Ill.; Burdette “Bud” Williams of Prairie du Chien; Patricia (Robert) Schlake of Prairie du Chien; Joan Christ of Prairie du Chien; and Ronald (Brenda) Williams of Prairie du Chien.
Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen K. Durant; his parents; one sister, Jean Niverel; and one brother, Robert Williams.
Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 6, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home, Prairie du Chien with William Skates as the Officiant.
Graveside services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien with Joel Frazier as the Officiant.
