Annual Fall Fest and Market in the Park set in Ferryville this Saturday

Saturday, Sept. 14 promises to be a great one for those who love “the road less traveled.” Visit Sugar Creek Park in Ferryville for Fall Fest and Market in the Park, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Ferryville Vision and Promotion Board, a community organization, is the organizer once again for this popular fall event.

Revel in the choice of farmers market items, including fall produce such as apples, raspberries and more. Don’t miss the Amish quilts, baskets, crafts, baked goods such as maple glazed donuts, fruit pies, granola, cookies and Hot Pepper Jam (great for a Badger or Packer tailgating). Another local vender, Robert Jelinek, will be selling his 2013 maple syrup.

What else will you see? How about the artistry of Larry Gehl, a local and award-winning woodcraft artist? He is new this year. His woodturnings, which include bowls and other pieces, really have to be seen for people to fully appreciate how magnificent his work is. Sharon Gehl, a well-known area quilter, is also selling her quilt art. You won’t want to miss it. Other artists include jewelry artist Holly Dougherty, who is also offering scarves and textiles. Christine Magnuson will have her photographic art, which includes cards and books. Molly Swift will be there with her unique hand woven baskets and quilts. These are just a few of the talents in Ferryville Saturday.

For those of you who love “Tool Time,” Everette Johnson, a regular at the market, also offers a fantastic selection that will have something for everyone.

Grass Roots BBQ is back too. They have the most fantastic lip lickin’ barbecue around, with the trimmings of coleslaw and other delicious food. Music this year is by Ferryville local Jimmy Nau, who plays guitar and harmonica to keep your toes tapping. He will entertain from 1-3 p.m.
