Robert L. “Bob” Cooley, 79, of Bloomington passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 17, 1934 in Grant County, the son of Archibald and Dorothy (Birch) Cooley. He served in the U.S. Army. Bob married Delores DuCharme on July 23, 1955, at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. Together they farmed in the Mt. Hope area for many years. Bob was quite a “horseman” and was an avid coon hunter.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Delores of Bloomington; his children, Robert Jr. of Lancaster, Diana (Bill Meyer) Steiber of Elkader, Iowa, Mary Jo (Steve Wagner) Wayne of Steuben, Brenda (Curt) White of Mt. Hope, Rick (Tara) of Marshall, Gary (Tammy) of Lancaster and Dan (Jen) of Mt. Hope; his brothers, Jim (Betty Cejka) of Prairie du Chien and Jon (Gloria) of Bagley; a sister Ilene (Jerry) Wilkinson of Prairie du Chien; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Connie Cooley; two great grandchildren and a sister Shirley (Henry) Steiner.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Prairie du Chien, with burial in the Bloomington Cemetery in Bloomington. Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
