Patrick Louis "Pat" Fernette


 Patrick Louis “Pat” Fernette, 83, of Janesville, died Friday, Aug. 16, at Rock Haven Nursing Home in Janesville. 

Pat was born on Dec. 18, 1929, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Louis Gabriel and Mary Virginia (Ryan) Fernette. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, serving from 1950 to 1959. Pat married Shirley Mae (Bolstad) Schaubroeck on April 12, 1975, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Janesville. Shirley died on May 15, 2003. Pat was employed as a machinist at Beloit Corporation for many years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Kienow-Hilt VFW Post 1621 and the local Machinist Union. In his spare time and retirement, Pat enjoyed woodworking; his handmade furniture graces many homes in the Janesville area.

Survivors include two sons, Mike (Becky) Fernette of Fennimore, Mark (Kris) Fernette of Janesville; two step-children, Lana (Ron) Miller, and Kory Schaubroeck, both of Janesville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dolores (Ray) Benish of Mason City, Iowa, and Virginia White of Madison.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Shirley, Pat was predeceased by two brothers, Mike and Gerald Fernette.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 21, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Janesville, with Fr. Stephen Umhoefer presiding. Entombment was at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Military Honors were provided by Kienow-Hilt VFW Post 1621. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church. Brian Hansen Funeral Service, Janesville, assisted the family.
