Accident in Soldiers Grove leads to charges for drugs, hit and run
On Aug. 23 at approximately 2:20 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department received a report from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department of a two-vehicle crash at Church Street and Cedar Street in the village of Soldiers Grove.
An off duty Vernon County deputy observed two vehicles collide with one another and observed both vehicles leave the scene of the crash. The deputy followed a 2005 Ford 500 vehicle into Readstown and observed two male occupants park and walk into an apartment building. A search warrant was conducted at the residence in Vernon County. The two men involved in the crash were located inside the residence and were identified as Alexander J. Campbell, 22, Soldiers Grove, who was the driver, and his passenger Jonlazaire C. Burch, 32, Madison.
The other vehicle involved in the accident was a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer and was later located in the village of Soldiers Grove. It was determined that Jessica Jobs, 25, Soldiers Grove, was the driver at the time of the accident.
Both men were arrested and transported to Crawford County Jail. A search warrant was conducted on their vehicle and marijuana and several drug paraphernalia items were discovered inside.
Campbell was charged with hit and run. Both Campbell and Burch are being referred for charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
