Emery Clifford Landsgard


Emery Clifford Landsgard, 90, of Elgin, Iowa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, Iowa.   

Emery was born September 4, 1922, to Arthur and Nellie (Christianson) Landsgard in Marion Township. He graduated from Center School. He was baptized on October 1, 1922, by Reverend Tysdal at Marion Lutheran Church and confirmed on August 16, 1936, by Reverend S.J. Strandjord at Marion Lutheran Church. Emery was united in marriage to Anna Mae Mork on September 14, 1957, in St. Olaf Chapel.  

Emery entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and served under General Patton in WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He was a farmer. Emery was born and raised on his 125 year family farm that was settled by his grandparents in 1887.   

Emery enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting with relatives. 

Emery is survived by his son, Tom Landsgard, of Elgin, and his niece, Kathy (Robert) Roys of Grinnell, Iowa. 

Emery is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae on December 30, 1984, his parents and a sister, Bernita Lueder. 

Funeral services were held at Norway Lutheran Church in St. Olaf at 11 am on Friday, August 23, 2013.  Reverend Marshall Hahn officiated. Visitation was Friday August 23, 2013, from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be held at Marion Lutheran Cemetery.
