Mar-Mac Police Chief selection process continues
By Audrey Posten
The Mar-Mac Public Safety Commission met Aug. 14, moving forward in the selection process for the new police chief.
After choosing to extend the application deadline an additional three weeks at the July 15 meeting, the commission had three more applicants to consider.
The commission decided to offer an interview to one of the recent applicants, as well as two of the five original applicants.
The commission also discussed the wage and benefits it would offer the applicants, settling on a salary range of $42,484 to $44,720 per year, depending upon qualifications. The applicants will be informed of the salary range when they are called about the interview, so as not to waste anyone’s time if the amount is not sufficient.
The interviews have been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 28. The interview process will be round robin style, with each applicant answering questions at both the McGregor and Marquette City Halls, as well as taking a tour of the area with chairman Robyn Denning.
