On Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 8:03 p.m. the Guttenberg Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 36052 Omega Road, Guttenberg. Before arrival the department was notified by the owner, David Bailey, that everyone was out of the structure.

Upon arrival the fire department determined that the structure was fully involved by fire, and it was confirmed there was no one in the structure. The department set up extinguishment operations and contained the fire to the single structure. The fire department remained on scene until 11:00 p.m. when all possible fire sources were contained.

Unfortunately the structure and all its contents were a total loss. The Dubuque Chapter of The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents. Fortunately for the residents, the family dogs were located healthy and unharmed shortly after the fire was brought under control.

After an initial investigation the cause of the fire is still undetermined. The investigation remains open as further information is being sought. At this time there are no immediate signed that the fire was intentional.

The Guttenberg Fire Department was assisted by the Holy Cross Fire Department, New Vienna/Luxemburg Fire Department, Guttenberg Ambulance, and Clayton County Sheriff’s Department.
