Duane Charles Delbert Lamker
Duane Charles Delbert Lamker, 84, of Monona, Iowa, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. He was born on March 10, 1929, to Alvin and Cora (Breitsprecher) Lamker in Monona, Iowa. Duane was baptized on March 31, 1929, and confirmed on March 10, 1943, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. He graduated from Monona High School.
Duane was united in marriage with Verda Mae Krambeer on June 13, 1951. Three children were born to this union, Randall, Janelle and Darrell. Verda passed away on March 16, 1998. Duane was then united in marriage with Marilyn on November 13, 1999, at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, Iowa. He was a farmer, a director of Northeast Iowa Telephone Company for fifteen years and a president for 12 years.
Duane was a council member fo St. Paul Lutheran Church and a president of the congregation for two years, sexton of the church cemetery for many years and a Farm Bureau Member. Duane enjoyed card club, supper club, farming, dancing, socializing with his friends and playing cards. He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by the many people who knew him. Duane was a positive person who loved and lived his life to its fullest.
Duane is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his three children, Randall (Sue) Lamker of Monona; Janelle (Jim) Noll of Fort Madison; and Darrell (Julie) Lamker of Olathe, Kansas; two step-children, Scott Henkes of Farmersburg and Pam (Sid) Mills of Iowa City; six grandchildren, Jordan Lamker, Chelsey Lamker, Valerie (Brian) Huss, Traci Noll, Lauren Lamker and Kara Lamker; four step-grandchildren, Nick (Tasha) Henkes, Cody (Morgan) Henkes, Ashley Mills and Tara Mills and one step great-grandchild, Bentley Henkes.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Verda Mae and two brothers, Donald (Dorothy) Lamker and Lloyd Lamker in infancy.
Visitation was Sunday, August 18, 2013, from 3-7 p.m. at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Monday.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 201.3 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa with Rev. Erika Kielstrup as the officiant. Inurnment will be at a later date.
