Patricia M. Smith, 89, of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, April 9, in Omaha, Neb.
She was born February 14, 1924 in Green Bay, the daughter of Bernard and Cecelia (Halinde) Shine. She married Kenneth Smith on February 8, 1947 in Green Bay, who later preceded her in death on April 1, 1957. Pat was an active member of St. John’s Parish in Prairie du Chien where she taught elementary English and was the director of religious education. She loved the Prairie du Chien community, her church and the Mississippi River.
She is survived by her children, Martin (Alice) Smith of Omaha, Neb., Nora (Bobbe) Cox of Rochert, Minn. and Peter (Pam) Smith of Sycamore, Ill.; along with her grandchildren, Joan, Ken Paul and Carl Smith, Jeffrey, Lindsay, Deana and Renata Cox, Caitlyn and Ellen Smith.
A visitation will be Friday, August 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien with a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Interment will be Saturday, August 10, at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery in Prairie du Chien with Rev. James Weighner officiating. Following the interment family and friends will be gathering at Lawler Park in Prairie du Chien.
