Proposed improvements for Hwy. 18 discussed at public meeting Aug. 15
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting to discuss the proposed improvements of US Highway 18 from South Town Lane to Highway 60 in the town of Bridgeport. The meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, in Community Room at the Bridgeport Fire Station, 63176 Vineyard Road. A brief presentation will be made at 5:15 p.m.
Project improvement concepts include reconstructing Highway 18 between South Town Lane and Highway 60. The highway will be widened from the existing 2-3 lane roadway to a 4-lane divided roadway, and improvements made to the Highway 18/Highway 60 intersection. Access points will be reduced by realigning and combining various side roads before connecting to Highway 18. Construction is currently scheduled for 2016. The project will be constructed in stages while remaining open to traffic.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
If anyone is unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, they can contact Jeremy Krachey, WisDOT Project Manager, at (608) 789-5702. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Jeremy Krachey, 3550 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse, WI, 54601.
