Young bicyclist struck crossing Marquette Road
A 14-year-old girl riding her bike was struck by a vehicle as she attempted to cross Marquette Road in Prairie du Chien last Thursday morning, July 18, according to the Prairie du Chien Police Department.
As of press time Monday, Hailey Seitz, of Prairie du Chien, remained in a La Crosse hospital, according to family posts on her Facebook page.
Police Chief Chad Abram said the girl’s condition could not be reported Monday, though more information about the accident would be available this week.
On Thursday, at about 7:55 a.m., the police department responded to the vehicle-versus-bicyclist accident near the intersection of South Marquette Road and Wells Street. Seitz was struck while attempting to cross the street on her bike by a vehicle traveling south on Marquette Road. She was transported to Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital and later air-lifted to La Crosse for additional treatment of the injuries she sustained as a result of the accident.
According to family members, a Hailey Seitz Fund has been established at Peoples State Bank. Donations may be dropped off at any branch.
