in Battle of Prairie du Chien reenactment The elegant grounds of the Villa Louis were transformed into a battlefield on July 13-14, with the reenactment of the 1814 Battle of Prairie du Chien. The Villa Louis has commemorated the battle for Fort Shelby for over 20 years with a reenactment on the west lawn—the site where the battle actually took place.
