Dorothy Corrine (Sass) McLaughlin passed away on June 22, in Prairie du Chien.
Dorothy was born on November 9, 1919, in Lake City, Minn., the seventh of ten children born to Louis and Caroline Sass. After raising her children, Lorna and Scott, with her husband Guy in Winona, Minn., they retired in in Bella Vista, Ark., in 1985. In 2005, she moved to Prairie du Chien, to be closer to Lorna and son-in-law Paul Porvaznik as well as extended family in the Mississippi Valley area in her later years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Dorothy is survived by one sister, Mrs. Delores (Donald) Florine of Red Wing, Minn., and one brother, Calvin Sass of Saint Paul. She is also survived by her daughter, Lorna and her husband Paul Porvaznik of Prairie du Chien, and her son, Scott McLaughlin and his wife Kathy of Midwest City, Okla. Dorothy took great pride in her grandchildren, Krista Porvaznik of Saint Paul, Minn.; Aaron Porvaznik of Seattle, Wash.; Conner McLaughlin of Saint Paul; and Kathryn (Katie) McLaughlin, married to Shane Friddle, of Oklahoma City, Okla. Dorothy was the proud great-grandmother to Jacob and Zachary Peterson, sons of Krista Porvaznik, and to Eleanor Friddle, daughter of Katie and Shane Friddle. Dorothy’s positive spirit and sense of humor will be missed by her family and friends.
Services are to be announced by the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien.
