Torrential rains cause problems for many
By Deb Ross
Again the skies opened up on Saturday morning, June 22, and dumped rain in excessive amounts on rural Colesburg and in the town of Colesburg.
This has been a common occurrence of late with all the rain but this time it hit hard, and the storm dumped up to 3 inches on already saturated ground.
There was real concern at Twin Bridges Park, since it was a weekend and there were more people camping in the park than there would be during the middle of the week.
These campers were wakened early by the heavy rainfall that warned them to get out of the park since flash flooding was highly likely. The prediction was not wrong, with the park becoming a huge lake. The water picked up picnic tables and carried them downstream. The park was closed quickly to prevent people from entering and for safety reasons. By mid-morning the water had gonedown but there were fish caught in big puddles trying to flop around to get back to deeper water.
