The heavy rains that pummeled the region over the weekend left behind frightening sights like this, where a home near the power plant in Lansing, Iowa, was left in ruins atop the bluff as the land washed out beneath. Another home in the same area was completely demolished as well. The weekend’s severe thunderstorms and flash flooding resulted in numerous mudslides, washouts, property damage and much debris left behind for cleanup crews in southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa. More rain is in the forecast for this week too.
