Thomas Russell Gilbertson, 93, of Prairie du Chien, died Monday, June 10, at Prairie Maison, Prairie du Chien.
He was born on July 18, 1919 in Woodruff, Wis. to Otis and Bertha Martina (Erickson) Gilbertson. Tom graduated from Chilton High School in Chilton, Wis. and attended two years of college at University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Tom and Marjorie Mueller were united in marriage on June 23, 1944 at Bethel Lutheran in Madison. Two children were born to this union. He worked at Gisholt Machine as a Machinist for 30 years in Madison, and then Ohio Medical for 15 years.
Tom is survived by his two children, Patricia (Richard) Hamann of Prairie du Chien, and James Gilbertson of Cottage Grove.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie in 2009; his parents; four brothers, Guilford, Orin, Gordon and Elder and three sisters, Gladys Dempsey, Myrtle Rohrdanz and Evelyn Snow.
Funeral services were Friday, June 14, at St. Peter Lutheran Evangelical Church in Prairie du Chien, with Pastor Nick Barootian as the officiant. Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church for side door project or Prairie Maison Activity Fund in Tom’s name.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien, is helping the family with the arrangements.
